Yarway Expansion Joint
Replacement of a Yarway Expansion Joint (below) with an Inline Pressure Balanced Expansion Joint.
Around mid-2021 Bellows Technology was contacted by a Building Services company with a project to replace a Yarway joint which was not in a state of disrepair.
Bellows technical design team went about designing a joint that would be best suited to the application, and the environment in situ, taking into concern the small amount of space available on installation.
We proposed a 750mm Nominal Bore Inline Pressure Balanced Expansion joint supplied at 2100mm overall length. The unit would be supplied with multi-ply membranes in 321 stainless steel, and Internal sleeves with castellation supplied in 10mm thick P265GH.
The Line pipe and balancing bellows would be attached with a pipe manufactured from 10mm thick ASTM A516 Gr.70 carbon steel.
We recommended the Unit would terminate with DN750 ANSI 300lb Series B RFSO flanges in A105. Carrier plates, gussets and supports in ASTM A516 Gr.70.
The Internal sleeves with castellation were a new concept for a bellows, designed this way as the space the bellows were to be installed in was very limited.
The customer proposed our design, which proved to be successful, we were awarded the order in November 2021 with a supply date for early 2022.
Bellows Technology expanded its technological knowledge in producing a one-of-a-kind expansion joint.
