Background

Teconnex Bellows was commissioned to supply 358 pipe penetration seals for a large-scale power generation project in Canada. 

This project uses Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) designed to generate steam from the flue gas of a combustion turbine. Each HSRG has three pressure levels and a reheat section, with a horizontal gas path and natural circulation system. 

Challenge

The bellows would become an integral part of the system, and needed to meet demanding criteria:

  • Withstand high temperatures and pressures
  • Accommodate thermal expansion and movement within the HRSG system 
  • Deliver long-term durability under continuous heavy-duty operation
